Deciding to start a home business is in itself, a fairly easy to decision to make but deciding exactly what type of home business isn’t so easy. Everywhere you look these days there seems to be ads claiming that you can earn a ton of money at home, create your own work schedule, quit your day job and never look back. I can tell you from experience (I quit my job 2 months ago) that starting your own business out of your home is the most time consuming and stressful experience I’ve ever dealt with in my life…but to me, it’s worth it because I love what I do and would rather work a 14 hour day at home doing what I am passionate about then an 8 hour day with paid lunch at some drone office job.

The first thing you will want to do before you commit yourself to a project is take inventory of your skills, interest and experience. If you aren’t very good at speaking in public or comfortable in new social situations, then maybe throwing Avon or Tupperware parties isn’t going to be your cup of tea. Identify your strengths and figure out how you make them work for you.

If you want to start making money online, then some online business ideas are:
- Set up a blog or website for profit from advertisements and paid posts
- Promote affiliate programs (click here for some home based affiliate ideas)
- Start an online business (such as a shop)
- Buy and sell domain names
- Participate in GPT Sites (paid surveys, offers, etc.)
- Sell on Ebay

There are also plenty of ways to make money offline (yes, out in the real world!) that are very profitable such as:
- Freelancing (design, writing, programming, photograher, etc.)
- Event Planning
- Cleaning Service
- Marketing Consultant
- Accounting
- Daycare

Just remember that if your passionate, your talents, education and skills can create multiple streams of income from home….don’t think that you are going to retire off promoting Clickbank books alone! This month I have made money from designing logos and web banners, posting on my blog, selling links, completing surveys, CickBank, AdSense and more all because these are things I enjoy doing and dare I say…I’m getting pretty damn good at it too
